Landus and Indigo Join Forces to Elevate Farmers’ Profitable Role in Digital Ag Landscape
Landus farmers will gain access to new carbon revenue stream and digital grain marketing tools
AMES, Iowa (December 2, 2021) – Landus, Iowa’s largest farmer-owned cooperative, and Indigo Ag, a company leveraging nature and technology to unlock economic and environmental progress in agriculture, today announced a strategic collaboration to drive improvements to on-farm profitability amid emerging digital opportunities in agriculture.
“Digital revenue streams are rapidly emerging in agriculture, but on-farm support in navigating these changes has been lagging. Our team is building partnerships to allow us to quickly equip our farmers with the right tools to capture these new revenue streams,” said Matt Carstens, President and CEO of Landus.
Through the collaboration, Landus farmer-owners will be able to engage directly with their cooperative to generate and maximize new revenue from carbon farming by participating in the industry’s leading carbon program. Landus is excited to collaborate with Indigo on carbon given its scientifically rigorous and comprehensive measurement capabilities, relationships with carbon registries, network of buyers, and modern technical infrastructure. The companies will further enable Landus farmer-owners to improve crop yields and realize operational efficiencies by utilizing Indigo’s system of solutions, including digital grain marketing tools and microbial seed treatments.
“Emerging opportunities like carbon farming are complex and require open collaboration among diverse companies to ensure successful entry for farmers. This collaboration with Indigo’s team of experts elevates the solutions we can offer to our growers beyond what’s possible on our own,” Carstens said.
The collaboration plays to the unique strengths of Landus and Indigo. By enhancing Landus’ agronomic and grain marketing expertise with Indigo’s advanced technological capabilities, Landus farmer-owners will be positioned to take advantage of new data-driven business opportunities that improve the efficiency and profitability of their business.
“From the emergence of entirely new sustainability revenue streams to optimizing operations and decision-making across the ag supply chain, digitization is driving transformational change in both the business and practice of farming,” said Ron Hovsepian, CEO of Indigo Ag. “We’re proud to work with Landus as their independent technology platform partner as they help their farmers adapt to market changes and monetize new opportunities to the fullest.”
Landus recently launched its GROW Ag Data Locker platform which enables farmers to simplify data organization, secure and maintain ownership of their data, and prepare for monetization opportunities, including those available through Indigo. The companies’ first jointly enabled offering (the carbon farming program) will be available to Landus growers in the first quarter of 2022 with details of additional collaboration expansions to follow. Landus’ Optimization partners will also have the opportunity to participate in offerings.
